Have I got a story for you...

Hey I’m Di.

A mind-shifter (mindset coach), business-simplifier (business coach) and the chic next door that likes to talk a lot.

It all started with my Dad, he gave me two poems to help with my mindset in sport.

The poems are awesome; however it was the chats with Dad that shifted my world. From the tender age of 10 we talked about all things mind-set and that led from sport to chatting about business.

We haven’t stopped chatting or working together since. Dad is my mentor, friend, teacher, business partner, and at times student. These chats have sparked my lifetime interest in business and how as humans we think.

This is me with my Dad - charming right?

There’s more to it, so for my full business experience you can read it here.

My first job was in the family business in Dunedin, Tamahine Knitwear. Imagine me at 6 yrs old sweeping up around the sewing machine’s, being paid by the sewers themselves 20 cents per machine or 50 cents from the super generous ones.

After university (Bcom accounting of course), I came back to the family business starting in customer services, moved to production planning, and worked my way through the company. This experience gave me a grounding in business but more than that, an understanding of the end-to-end process of operating a company.

This was the best unplanned start to my career. Later it led to project-based work, especially around asset allocation, maximising assets returns and business exiting.

It was about this time that I had one of those life hiccups. At 31, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
I did all the medical things and then got right back to life in business. On she goes.

At 38, it wasn’t a hiccup so much as being blindsided by a freight train.

Diagnosed with secondary, terminal breast cancer, now in my lungs, I was told a life expectancy of 12 months, zero chance of making it to 18 months.

At this point a miracle happened (according to my Mother), I stopped talking and more importantly shut up long enough to listen to my own heart.

I then did the most important bit, I followed the three whispers I heard:

  1. Be Happy, actually Be Present

  2. Go Natural “let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”

  3. Be Grateful, oh the challenge

The short version, the bit that makes my story EPIC is that with no medical intervention, over time, my body healed.

It blows my mind that I’ve lived this story. Living through earthquakes, the sale of multiple businesses, 3 homes, one baby and 13 years later, I still have no sign of disease.

I am so grateful you’re here, with me, in this moment.
Life is not just about a shared moment… I would love to hear about you, your story, your beliefs, your dreams and your whispers
